Dallara Compositi, founded as Camattini Meccanica, boasts more than 30 years of experience in the engineering of composite components for various sectors such as Motorsport, Aerospace and Automotive.

The former Camattini Meccanica was acquired by the Dallara group in 2014 and in 2018 changed its company name to Dallara Compositi, further confirming that it belongs to the group. Its core competence is the industrialization and production of components in composite material, including equipment, models and molds.

Composite materials are fabrics made of carbon fibers or other synthetic materials, capable of locking in the fibers when subjected to solidification treatments at high temperatures and pressures. Carbon fiber rolls are generally stored in cold rooms at temperatures as low as -20°C, which is why it is important that the transfer from the cold room to the processing department is controlled and rapid.

Dallara Compositi turned to Sygest to structure a procedure capable of tracking the life of the carbon fiber rolls outside the cold rooms.

The system proposed by Sygest makes it possible, through RF-ID technology, to identify the position of the carbon fiber rolls, particularly when they are outside the cold rooms, in order to calculate the time spent outside and consequently determine their remaining useful life.

An RF-ID TAG showing the batch on a two-dimensional barcode is applied to each roll; TAG reading antennas are instead placed at the exit of the cold rooms and at the entrance of the processing department, where they intercept the roll, recognize its position and calculate the time spent outside.

As supporting tools, Sygest provides:

• Rugged Android/Windows tablets
• A web application, independent of the device used for viewing
• Antenna-based RF-ID readers
• A Bluetooth-compatible two-dimensional barcode reader in HID emulation for high reading volumes
• A Bluetooth-compatible RF-ID Tag reader in HID emulation suitable for environments with temperatures down to -20°

Thanks to the procedure put in place by Sygest, Dallara Compositi has the guarantee that the product is always under control and that data is tracked and immediately accessible.

In addition to improving data management, this system has also made it possible to reduce the number of rejects due to carbon fiber rolls spending too long outside the cold room.

Sygest has studied RF-ID technology in depth and developed it in order to structure, in addition to the carbon tracking system, a solution dedicated to the warehouse that makes it possible to search for components that are difficult to locate.

Sygest has in fact dedicated an RF-ID module to the Packing List Photo solution, software that makes it possible to manage a packing list with photographic attachments and to generate a QR code which, once scanned, shows the contents of the package/vehicle/container.

With the RF-ID module of Packing List Photo, using an Android terminal with an RF-ID reader, it is possible to search for “hidden” parts and locate a component inside a warehouse from up to 10 meters away.

By setting the antenna power, it is possible to search for a component with a TAG, and the App will provide an acoustic alert when the TAG is detected. The background can change from red to yellow to green depending on the quality of the TAG response (shown as a percentage), thus giving an indication of how close the component is.

In general, the use of RF-ID technology applied to Sygest solutions gives users greater speed in carrying out operational management activities as well as greater accuracy, making it possible to manage materials with a high unit value.
